DHD Layout Yummies for April/May!

I'm soooo behind on my posting of my yummies for you, and for that I apologize!
I've had to take a slight break on my scrapbooking for these last few weeks as I'm in the process of moving and trying to find a new place to live - so bare with me these next few weeks and my lack of posts! :)

In the meantime here are my DHD layout yummies for April/May! Hope you find some inspiration!

Commercial break - Let's make some cookies!

Time to take a small break from all that scrapbooking to share a fabulous recipe I found on Pinterest!

I've always just got the store bought cookie dough but was craving the taste of homemade cookies. And frankly I've had a really rough week so I thought I deserved some!!! :)

These cookies came from the Girl Who Bakes blog. You can find the full recipe HERE.

Here are my photos from the bake session. They turned out great!

(little red candy was my daughter's contribution!)

What can be better for a hard day than homemade chocolate chip cookies and a yummy strawberry daiquiri!

I'm finally published in Creating Keepsakes magazine!

I've been a scrapbooker for 12 years - started off traditional and moved to digital over 2 years ago. It has always been a dream of mine to have a layout published in CK magazine - and this month it finally came true!!! My Giggles & Grins layout was selected for the Reader Gallery and I was was so excited to see it in the July/August issue!

It's on news stands now if you want to check it out! It's on page 27! :)

And here's the layout!

iSND Blog Hop!

Welcome to DHD's iNSD Blog Hop! Thanks for stopping by! Today we will talk about the fun uses of Digital Page Protectors AND I have a freebie for you too! Who doesn't like those right!?

(if you've found this out by chance and would like to participate in the Blog Hop just click HERE to take you to the beginning!)

So have you played around with the newest Digi craze - digital protector pages and pockets? I gotta say it's my new favourite go-to product lately! I've used them quite a few times for my pages and I'd love to share some examples for you! Design House Digital some fabulous ones in the shop too! Here are a few:

(Protector Pockets 2 and Protectors Set 2 - Karla Dudley; Clear Plastic Protectors - Angie Hinksman; The Road to Success - Karen Funk)

Protector pages and pockets are great for adding a little extra 'something' to your layout. They make wonderful frames and even templates and mimic the look of the pocket pages traditional scrappers also use. :) Here let me show you some uses:

Protector Pages as a TEMPLATE
Here are two examples of using protector pages as a template. It makes it so easy to clip your papers and photos into because everything is blocked out for you! Karla Dudley makes some wonderful ones in the shop. She also gives shadow options for both dark and light background papers. Click on images for credits.

Protector pockets as a FRAME
Pocket protectors hold your photos, but also frame them nicely too! Here is an example using Karen Funk's clear pockets. Click on images for credits.

This next layout - BFF - is by Shannon Dombkowski. She used Angie Hinksman's clear Pockets to frame her photo. Click on photo for credits.

Protector Pockets to use in PROJECT LIFE type layouts.

This year I jumped on the Project Life bandwagon... I love documenting my life - week by week! I used Karla's Protector Pockets on each template in my album. I feel it helps anchor down my photos and cards on the template. Click on image for credits. Here's an example:
